Famous Chicago Movies

7 08 2012

Since I am an avid movie watcher, I was excited to see “The Dark Knight Rises”.  When they changed filming locations from Chicago to Pittsburg a piece of the excitement for the movie was lifted. Maybe it is the intensity of walking down the same street The Joker flipped a semi (in front of the Board of Trade on Lasalle) or the intrigue while standing in front of Wayne Enterprises (also known as Daley Plaza). There is something special about walking the same streets as these famous actors and knowing each location, which boosts the movie’s ability to entertain me. While walking down Michigan Avenue, you are walking through the set of scenes in  The Break-up, Transformers 3, The Dark Knight, Batman Begins, Fred Claus, Ferris Bueller’s Day Off, Eagle Eye, and Wanted, to name a few. I, for one, cannot help but to stop every so often for a quick picture to show these sites to friends or out-of-state family. Walking 10 more minutes into the loop enables you to walk through a few sets form Backdraft, The Fugitive, US Marshalls, Spiderman 2, The Negotiator, Public Enemies, Road to Perdition, and Miracle on 34th Street. Where else can you walk through the mean streets of the Roarin’ 20’s, stroll through a comic book, and wander past a Robot Apocalypse all on your way to The Disney Store? This can only happen in Chicago!
